The ITIL Service Manager course concludes with a hand-written essay exam.  I've taught test taking techniques and graded literally thousands of term papers, essays, and short answer questions.  I have some useful hints based on my experience.

In designing such an exam, the writers have a specific answer in mind.  There is often a scoring guide which tells the grader how to score the answers.  This is done in the interest of fairness and consistency.

It's up to you to convince the grader that you know the material and you know how to answer the question.
